With 40-plus years of nursing background, Susan has seen the impact of stress and disease processes on health and wellness. This has far-reaching consequences not only on the individual, but on society as a whole as well.
As a Registered Nurse, Susan educates patients suffering from diabetes, cardiac and kidney disease about disease and appropriate dietary management. However, the most successful clients are those who also adopted a holistic integrative approach to include exercise and various forms of stress management and behavioral awareness.
In the 1990’s, Susan studied Therapeutic Touch, the medical version of Reiki, and learned to use her hands in the body’s energy field to reduce stress and anxiety. Encouraged by what she learned, Susan continued her studies becoming a Reiki Master.
When her daughter was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease at the age of 13, Susan helped her integrate diet, self-help techniques, meditation, stress-management and yoga with conventional treatment methods to positively impact her daughter’s health and well-being. Today, many of the original signs and symptoms and issues have resolved.
Susan learned how the use of essential oils in long-term care facilities assisted with mood, appetite and overall well-being. She utilized colors in geriatric care management to encourage appetite, give depth perception, promote calmness or motivate her clients for activity.
As an Integrative Nurse Life Coach, Susan works with the whole person using principles and techniques that integrate mind-body-emotions-spirituality-environment to promote health, wellness and wellbeing. She is supportive and encourages her clients to build on their strengths, providing guidance and resources, as the client is the expert on their own needs and choices.
